Maternity Session | Richfield Nature Park, Richfield WI | Milwaukee Area Photographer

Kristen contacted me looking into getting not just one photography session done, but her documenting her entire journey from pregnancy through baby’s 1st year (and hopefully beyond!) I was so excited when she and her husband chose me to be her photographer for such a special time in their lives. Our first session together was their maternity session. After showing Kristen a few different location options, like I do with all of my clients, she chose Richfield Nature Park in Richfield, Wisconsin. It’s a great place because it’s huge so photo opportunities are everywhere and yet the photos always look different every time I’m able to shoot there. We had a great time talking about baby (which is a surprise gender!) and taking so many gorgeous images of this glowing momma and her husband! Here are some of my favorites from the maternity session:

And here are some collages of the images from the session. I absolutely love putting images into a collage for my clients and having the whole session come to life! One of the reasons Kristen wanted to book maternity through 1 year with the same photographer (me – eek!!) is for that very consistency! Can’t wait to blog more after their 48 Hour session once baby arrives!

Baby Archer | Milwaukee Newborn Photographer, Family Session

What I love about being a newborn photographer is that every baby and family that I’m lucky enough to be able to capture is different. I laugh when people say all babies look the same because they really don’t! Baby Archer had such sweet cheeks and a perfect pout. I captured some of those sweet details in the black and white collage below, and I’m sure he will grow up to be just as gorgeous as his parents! They came and visited me for a Newborn Complete session which includes family photos. Here are some of my favorites from their session:2017-02-13_0002.jpg

1st Birthday Photo Session… Golden Hour, Cake Smash & Bubbles | Brookfield WI Photographer

I’m soooo behind on blogging.  I’m pretty sure that’s the story of most photographers lives. We’d rather be shooting and interacting than behind a computer making collages and uploading them. Well I actually LOVE making collages, but uploading the photos and blogging… not so much. But you guys, I have SO MANY ADORABLE PHOTOS to share with you all. So I’m starting somewhere. Here are some first birthday photos from LAST Summer. Momma styled her little man perfectly and the birthday board she had printed added such a fun touch. Benny’s dog even got to be apart of some of the photos! And my favorite part, we ended his photography cake smash with a bubble bath session outdoors. Bubble bath photos outside are ALWAYS a favorite of mine… so classic for babies!

A bittersweet Summer adventure… Lake Country Photographer, Pewaukee, Wisconsin

This past Summer was so bittersweet for us… it was the last Summer before our son embarked on a great big adventure called Kindergarten! Before Kindergarten we decided to sign him up for “summer camp” where he went one week on, one week off getting to know his new school and exploring things all on his own. So during this past Summer I decided to do a quick, casual and fun shoot with my little guy during my favorite time of day, golden hour, to kind of symbolize this new chapter (aka the adventure) for us all! At his school wearing rain boots is the totally normal (and totally cute) part of daily attire for the kids, and so as you’ll see below I let him rock them as he normally would plus added some suspenders to his outfit just for the fun of it… I think these are definitely some of my favorite images of him, totally the whole “boys will be boys” mentality — complete with the nose picking! Lol!! And by now his first pair of rain boots have been pretty well loved, so it’s time for some new ones and for me to get these images up 🙂 I constantly find myself shooting, editing, but not posting… always afraid to annoy my friends and family with sharing too much and/or frankly just not having enough time or feeling like it’s the “right time” to post… I often wonder does anyone else ever feel that way? Regardless, now is the time. my time. his time. our time together. So here are some images of my sweet boy, just the way I want to remember him… being himself and having fun outdoors with mommy… and her camera 😉

A magic filled Halloween costume photo shoot

Here is my Halloween costume photo shoot with my son! Fall and Halloween are some of my favorite times of the year! They have been since I was a child…so passing on the traditions that go along with it was a no brainer for our family! This year we’ve watched a lot of magic shows and find them to be really fun, entertaining and well magical hahah. One of the restaurants by us even has a live magician on Sunday’s that we’ve gotten the chance to see! So it was a pleasant surprise when Jackson decided he wanted to be a magician this year for Halloween! He also had gotten invited to a little friend’s birthday party that was dress up earlier in October, so I didn’t have time to hand make a costume and opted for our dear old pal, Amazon. Lol! But this goes to show you that beautiful, styled sessions can be created even on a small budget or time crunch with the right creativity! Once I knew he was committed to being a magician, I had the idea to incorporate smoke bombs into the session! SO fun for everyone! Tom (aka daddy) was there to help light them off and stayed very close to Jackson just outside of the frame of my camera for safety. To be honest I knew I wanted to use smoke bombs and have him do “tricks” but beyond that, this past month has been so busy that I didn’t have time to plan it too much… so we threw together two cardboard boxes, black fleece draped over the table and used some star cut outs from a party store that I had from other sessions. The night before Halloween was really our only chance to get some photos, so we just took these just steps from our front door. Obviously location plays a BIG part of getting the final “wow” images so I was worried we wouldn’t be able to find a good enough spot, but then I found a patch of dark trees with just one speckle of leaves left and thought it would frame him perfectly… kind of dark and mysterious yet with a pop of sparkle. All in all I am so happy with how this turned out because it was so much fun for all of us!

Without further ado… Introducing JACKSON THE GREAT!! 🙂
